Important information

You need an operating license if you are going to start, take over, expand or change a catering business. You also need an operating license if you do not offer alcohol. A hotel, restaurant, café, snack bar, discotheque, community center or clubhouse are examples of a catering establishment. This is not an exhaustive list.

Good to know:

In the following situations, apply for an operating license from the municipality:

  • You are starting or taking over a hospitality business.
  • The legal form of your business changes.
  • You will have a different supervisor.
  • You will engage in new activities.
  • You are going to expand your business through a remodel.
  • You are starting a patio or expanding your patio.
For better and faster treatment, the congregation requests at least:
  • Details about the company/institution/organization.
  • Details of operator(s).
  • Description of hospitality business.
  • Description of premises belonging to the establishment and in number of m², For example: 1st floor, restaurant - 30m².
You will be asked to add the following attachment:
  • A situation sketch if a terrace is involved.
  • A recent Certificate of Good Conduct from all operators. (only required if you are not applying for a liquor and hospitality license)
  • Business plan.
