14%

Important information

You can request a proof of being alive from the municipality. This is written proof from the municipality that a person is still alive. You will need this, for example, if your insurance company or pension fund asks for it. You can apply for a proof of living with the municipality where you are registered.

Costs:

Certificate of being alive € 17.15 (2025)
Certificate of being alive international € 17.10 (2025)

Nb: Free of charge if the letter from the pension fund is submitted which explicitly states that the declaration is free of fees. This also applies to the international model.

Good to know:

  • A proof of being alive is valid in: Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
  • If you need to show that you are alive in another country, apply for an attestation de vita, also called a proof of living internationally.
Note: An attestation de vita must be requested in person at the municipality. This cannot be arranged digitally.
