Important information

Do you have a condition or disability that prevents you from walking properly? If so, you may be eligible for a disabled parking permit. A disabled parking permit allows you to park in disabled parking spaces in the Netherlands and most European countries. Of course, you must follow local parking rules.

If you apply for a disabled parking permit, a medical authority examines your physical disability. The municipality determines which authority that is.

Cost: see Fees Ordinance.

Good to know:

  • The parking ticket is in a person's name.
  • The Map is not registered.
  • You can use the Maps for any car.
  • The parking pass is valid for up to 5 years.
Types of disabled parking tickets

There are 3 types of Maps:

  • Driver's License: If you are physically challenged but can drive a car independently.
  • Passenger card: If you are physically disabled and cannot drive a car independently. You are dependent on a driver.
  • Institution card: If you reside in a healthcare facility. The institution can obtain an institutional card.
  • Note: You can also apply for a combination of a driver card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently wheelchair-bound.

Please note! Depending on the medical examination, the processing time is 12 weeks. Are you applying for an extension? You may need to be examined, reapply for the Map in time.
