Major maintenance to bike path and sidewalk Backershagenlaan

The bike path and sidewalk on Backershagen Avenue are being renewed, which was badly needed. Pressure from tree roots had caused the surface to become very uneven, resulting in dangerous situations for cyclists and pedestrians. The bike path and sidewalk have been slightly raised, repaved with new tiles, so that cyclists, including many school children, and walkers can safely use the bike path and sidewalk again. 

"A lot of hard work has been done, and the work is almost complete now. I think it looks super," said Wim Koetsier, Alderman traffic and public space.
