Churches Vision

Churches have occupied a prominent place in our village for centuries. But times change and so does the position of churches. It is important to make agreements on how to give these monumental buildings and their interiors an appropriate future. Therefore, in 2021, the Municipal Executive decided to participate in the national project when it comes to preparing a church vision for religious heritage. In the first phase of the project, carried out together with the municipality of Voorschoten, a list was drawn up with church administrations and heritage organization, among others, of what is involved and what is considered important.

On January 25, 2022, the College of B&W adopted the report of this exploration phase, along with a plan of action. With this decision, the municipality lays down how work on the Church Vision will continue in the coming months. Faith communities, owners and other indirectly involved parties (such as neighborhood associations and heritage organizations) will be approached to participate in order to arrive together at a vision for dealing with religious heritage.
