Visiting businesses on Van Hall Street and the Extended High Clay

Dol-Fijn Kinderopvang and Van Ede International Moving were visited in July by Alderman Laurens van Doeveren and the business contact officer of Wassenaar municipality. These visits are designed to strengthen ties with local entrepreneurs and gain better insight into their daily practices. Entrepreneurs were given the space to share experiences and discuss current challenges.

A child-oriented and stylish environment

Van Hallstraat 6 is home to Dol-Fijn Childcare. Owner Wendy te Boekhorst gave a tour of the stylishly decorated building. Here you will find a playgroup Dolle-Pret for children aged 2 to 4 years and the after-school care Dol-Blij for children aged 4 to 12 years. The rooms are thematically decorated and fully adapted to the experiences of children. There is also a nice outdoor area where children can play safely. Wendy told with pride about her work, the familiar environment that is created for the children and the good contacts with other entrepreneurs in the neighborhood.

Mixed use

The presence of Dol-Fijn Kinderopvang shows that social functions can go together with other forms of entrepreneurship on the Van Hallstraat business park. The mixed zoning allows this combination, as long as it does not lead to restrictions of one of the functions. It is also important that no (traffic) unsafe situations arise. Wendy explained that picking up and dropping off children usually goes smoothly and safely.

A world of relocations

At business park Verlengde Hoge Klei, the congregation was warmly welcomed to Van Ede International Moving. Mirjam and Gijs van Ede, niece and nephew of each other, are co-owners of this company together with their fathers. Since 1956, Van Ede has been a trusted Wassenaar family business specializing in removals within the Netherlands as well as to and from Europe. What is unique is that all removals are carried out by our own team. This is a close-knit team of 15 permanent employees, many of whom are from Wassenaar. Van Ede keeps everything in-house and that makes them reliable.

Craftsmanship and service with space

In addition to moving household effects, they also handle less mundane jobs such as moving works of art. Their services go beyond transportation and packing and unpacking of household effects. The company has a modern storage hall and offers flexible solutions for short-term and long-term storage of household effects. They also provide handyman and cleaning services for their customers. And they cooperate with thrift stores to give a second life to items that customers dispose of through them.

Fine conversations

Laurens van Doeveren: "The pleasant conversations during these company visits really brought us into contact with the people behind the business gave us valuable insights. Precisely these insights form an important building block for an economic vision that is in line with practice, and for a lively and future-proof entrepreneurial climate in Wassenaar."
