De Paauw Town Hall full of art at Culture Award Ceremony 2025

Council House De Paauw was the setting for the twelfth edition of the Wassenaar Culture Prize on Saturday, October 11. The historic town hall, which this year marks exactly 100 years as a council house, was literally and figuratively dedicated to art: rooms and corridors were filled with paintings, drawings, sculptures and musical contributions from local creators.

Record number of entries from all corners of the arts

The 2025 edition had the highest number of entries to date. Artists of diverse backgrounds and ages submitted work, both individually and through collectives. The works submitted showed a wide variety in style, technique and subject matter. From realistic portraits to abstract forms, from traditional craft to modern interpretations. The award showcased just how much creative talent there is in Wassenaar.

Mass involvement from the village

In addition to a professional jury, the public played an important role: hundreds of residents cast their votes for their favorite works. The great involvement from the village confirmed the importance of art and culture in the local community.

Collaboration at the event

The organization was in the hands of the Wassenaar Culture Platform (WCP), in close cooperation with partners such as the Wassenaar Art Circle. The display of works, the presentation of the nominees and the festive award ceremony made this edition an atmospheric event. The Culture Award 2025 once again made visible how much artistic talent Wassenaar has to offer.
