Skatepark in Wassenaar declared smoke-free

In the G. van Barneveld Park near the skate park, Alderman Ronald Zoutendijk (local youth policy and health) placed three tiles on July 10 as part of the Smokefree Generation action program. A smoke-free generation contributes to a healthier future. As with the swimming pool and playgrounds, we want children and young people to be able to grow up in an environment where they have as little contact as possible with substance use, such as alcohol, drugs, smoking and vaping. Because an enabling environment also means growing up healthy.

Great role for parents and other educators

Ronald Zoutendijk: "We want children and young people to be able to move freely in a healthy environment. Declaring the skate park smoke-free is a clear signal: smoking and vaping is undesirable and unhealthy. At the same time, I realize that placing tiles cannot solve the problem. For that, we need to work together to ensure that youth can grow up in a healthy environment. In this, parents and other educators have a major role."

Making the skate park smoke-free is part of our health policy and is in line with the program Growing up in a Chanceful Environment (OKO). Help out and set a good example - together we make a difference!
