Illegally moored vessels in public waters in Wassenaar
Articles 5:25 through 5:27 of the Wassenaar General Local Regulation 2024 contain rules regarding boat moorings. The municipality may take enforcement action against illegally moored vessels. In such cases, the towing company BRL is engaged to remove illegally moored vessels from the water. The owner is responsible for the towing costs and the costs of storage at BRL in Leiden.

Legal enforcement regarding vessels placed in violation of the law
The local regulations titled “Algemene Plaatselijke Verordening Wassenaar 2024” contain rules regarding designated mooring of vessels: Articles 5:25 through 5:27. Please be advised that the municipality is authorized to take action against illegal mooring of vessels. In such cases, the vessel will be removed from the water by the towing company “BRL” and transported to the BRL storage facility in Leiden. All costs associated with this process will be borne by the offender. To avoid high costs, please obtain a copy of the local regulations.
