Center full of entrepreneurship: from dream sleeping to cycling fun and stylish haircuts
Droomvisie, Sidney Tweewielers, and Haarstudio Ellen recently welcomed Alderman van Doeveren and two municipal officials for a working visit. During these personal meetings, they reflected on their impressive milestones and the entrepreneurs shared how they have been dedicated to their customers for years and discussed the developments, opportunities, and challenges facing their businesses.
A trusted name in sleep comfort for over 25 years
The first visit was to Droomvisie at Langstraat 49. During the meeting, owner Jørgen Lammerding talked about the family business that specializes in sleep comfort. With a second store in Voorschoten, Droomvisie offers a diverse and sustainable range, combined with service that is widely appreciated. Its strong reputation has attracted a wide customer base: from Wassenaar residents and expats to customers from the region and even abroad. Droomvisie invests heavily in training its employees, although finding good staff remains a challenge. Despite the growth of online shopping, the store remains popular thanks to expert advice and personal contact, because "a computer screen is not comfortable." Last year, Droomvisie celebrated its 25th anniversary, a milestone that Jørgen is confidently building on.

Lustrum milestone for family bicycle company
At Sidney Tweewielers, father Ed and son Sidney Kortekaas received a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the municipality to mark the fifth anniversary of their business. Ed and his family previously ran Broodje bij de Molen in the same building, at Gravestraat 2B. In 2021, Ed made the switch to the bicycle industry, where he is now being trained by Sidney, who has been active in the trade for years. Together, they sell, repair, and maintain a wide range of bicycles, from e-bikes to cargo bikes. They offer a pick-up and delivery service for repairs. Bicycles can be rented for €15 per day. The central location makes cycling and parking easy. And since the workshop moved to the shop, customer contact has improved noticeably and the gentlemen can run the business more efficiently.

Onward to 25 years of style and personal attention
Finally, the Alderman Ellen Vogelenzang. She runs Haarstudio Ellen at Kerkstraat 43. With five experienced hair stylists, the team offers cutting, coloring, washing, blow-drying, and manicure treatments, and they attend annual training courses to keep up to date. They have around 1,000 customers, mainly from Wassenaar-Zuid, with many regular visitors. The hair salon is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and personal attention: everyone should feel welcome. And that has been the case for almost 25 years, because next year Ellen will also be celebrating this anniversary. She is an entrepreneur through and through and cherishes her profession, in which she makes people more beautiful and happier every day. She feels strongly connected to the center and encourages customers to buy locally.

Alderman Doeveren: “In recent years, I have been committed to supporting our entrepreneurs, and these conversations motivate me to continue doing so. Their entrepreneurship keeps Wassenaar vibrant. It was inspiring to hear what is going on and what they are proud of. Keep supporting our entrepreneurs by consciously buying local!”
