College on a working visit to Provalu
On September 30, the College of Mayor and Aldermen paid a working visit to Provalu, an organization that assists Wassenaarders who qualify for so-called sheltered employment. During the visit, the college gained insight into Provalu's work and how the organization contributes to an inclusive labor market.
Provalu has a clear goal: to give everyone a chance to participate. Director Rinco Knoop took the college through the organization's mission and vision and gave an inside look at how Provalu makes a difference every day for people who need extra support.

Social employment and sheltered employment
Provalu is the implementing organization of the Joint Regulation Werkbedrijven Kust-, Duin- en Bollenstreek (GR KDB), a collaboration of seven municipalities. During the visit, the college got a better picture of the implementation of the Social Employment Act (WSW) and sheltered work. Inhabitants of Wassenaar who are unable to work under regular conditions due to a disability, or who have a work restriction, are taken under the care of Provalu. The work and income consultants of the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg refer Wassenaar residents to Provalu when they qualify for sheltered employment.
Development central
Behind the scenes is an impressive world: large production halls, workshops and learning environments where dedication and craftsmanship are worked on a daily basis. From packing KLM cutlery and headphones to assembling electronic equipment and maintaining bicycles in the workshop. What stood out was that Provalu does not just offer work, but puts development at the center.
Ritske Bloemendaal, Alderman Income: "I am very satisfied with the cooperation with Provalu. The visit showed very well how Provalu makes inclusion and participation concrete, and makes visible what is possible when people are given opportunities. The pleasant working atmosphere and job satisfaction that participants and staff radiate is heartwarming."
