Municipal Executive visits Rozenstein restructuring project
On Tuesday, December 9, the Municipal Executive visited the Rozenstein restructuring project, run by the St. Willibrordus Housing Association, in the Oostdorp neighborhood. During the project visit, the Municipal Executive members were given a presentation on the progress and ambitions of the renovation plan, followed by a tour of the site.
Alderman Ritske Bloemendaal emphasizes the importance of the expansion: "It is extremely good to see that the St. Willibrordus Housing Association is taking the step from 62 to 101 homes. This not only allows them to make better use of the available space, but also actually increases the housing stock in Wassenaar. That is sorely needed. I am particularly pleased that this will also give first-time buyers and people on lower incomes a better chance of finding suitable housing. This project will give an important boost to mobility and to a sustainable neighborhood."
Renovation for a future-proof neighborhood
Project Rozenstein is a large-scale restructuring project in which 62 outdated homes are being replaced by 101 modern and sustainable new-build homes. These consist of 57 apartments and 44 single-family homes, 10 of which are in the mid-rental segment. With this development, the St. Willibrordus Housing Association is responding to the housing shortage and improving the quality of life in Oostdorp. The new homes also offer space for various target groups, such as first-time buyers, people moving up the property ladder, and seniors. The first homes are expected to be completed before the summer holidays of 2026. With this renewal, the restructuring project contributes to a future-proof and inclusive living environment.
Marc Fischer, Director of the St. Willibrodus Housing Association: "We remain committed to providing affordable and good housing in Wassenaar, despite the challenges we face. Thank you to the council for their involvement and the valuable discussion!"
Course of the visit
The council was welcomed in one of the homes that is already at an advanced stage of construction. There, a presentation was given on the design and progress of the project, with time for questions and explanations. Afterwards, the council was given a guided tour of the project area for safety reasons. The visit concluded with a discussion with the parties involved about the next phases of the restructuring.
