Centennial of Council House De Paauw
On September 12, 13 and 14, the municipality of Wassenaar will celebrate a special anniversary: Council House De Paauw has been the administrative center of the village for a century. This will be celebrated with a festive weekend in and around the Town Hall, in the middle of the beautiful De Paauw Estate. An event, organized by the municipality of Wassenaar, for all Wassenaarders, with a varied program for young and old.
Friday, Sept. 12
The party weekend will begin on Friday with a festive official opening in the afternoon. This will be followed by a large party on the lawn in front of Council House De Paauw. DJs and light effects will ensure an unforgettable evening. The Century Festival is open to everyone free of charge and lasts until 11 p.m.
- 4:30 p.m.: Opening 100 years of Council House De Paauw
- 5 p.m.: Start Century Festival
- 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Pedal boats on the Paauwvijver
- 10:30 p.m.: Light effects show
- 11 p.m.: End of Century Festival
Saturday, Sept. 13
On Saturday there is plenty to do for children around Council House De Paauw. Take part in the play-along theater of Theatralala, have fun during creative workshops and play old Dutch games. Around 11:00 there is a festive prize-giving ceremony for the coloring contest. You can also enjoy water fun at the Fire Department Museum or pedal on the Paauwvijver. Be sure to come dressed up, because that makes it even more fun!

- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Workshops artists Floor Fernhout (teahouse) and Lin Jans (atelier De Paauw)

- 10:30 a.m.: Children's performance in the council chamber by Theatralala
- 11 a.m.: Flag raising for the start of Open Monument Day
- 11:15 a.m.: Prize-giving ceremony coloring contest on the steps of Council House De Paauw
- 11:30 a.m.: Children's performance in the council chamber by Theatralala
- 1:00-4:00 p.m.: Guided tours of Council House De Paauw
- 2 p.m.: English-language guided tour of Council House De Paauw
- 7 p.m.: End of program Saturday
Sunday, Sept. 14
On Sunday, music will be heard in the Raadzaal of Raadhuis De Paauw, where two mini-operas of Rossini's The Barber of Seville will be performed. Between performances there will be a musical interlude: Haagse Salon. Ticket sales have started at www.minioperawassenaar.nl. Be there in time, as seats are limited.

Open Monument Day
Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 is also Open Monument Day. Council House De Paauw, like 16 other locations in Wassenaar, will open its doors to the public and special tours of the historic building will be organized. A unique opportunity to learn more about the rich history of the building and the special stories that took place there. Coloring contest
In honor of the centennial there is a special coloring contest for children. You can pick up and return the coloring pages at the town hall, the library and Raadhuis De Paauw. Or download and print your coloring page via the link below. You can hand in your coloring page until Sunday, September 7. On Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 we will announce the winners at Raadhuis De Paauw. Turn in your best coloring page and who knows, maybe you will win one of these great prizes!
No parking for cars
During the Centenary, there is no possibility to park your car around Council House De Paauw. Therefore, please come by bike or on foot. There is plenty of room to park your bike. From the mill in the center, there will be two carriage rides to the Town Hall. Spaces for this are very limited. A return trip is also not guaranteed.
In conclusion
Everyone is welcome to come dressed up! The best costume wins a prize. Dogs are welcome at Landgoed De Paauw, but we are expecting heavy traffic this weekend. Please keep that in mind. We therefore advise you not to walk your dog around Raadhuis De Paauw from Wednesday, September 10 until Sunday, September 14.
