Redevelopment of ANWB site
In September 2020, ANWB expressed its intention to vacate the ANWB site on Wassenaarseweg. This will free up the entire site for redevelopment.
The redevelopment of the ANWB site offers opportunities for the housing market in Wassenaar and in the Hague region. Between 400 and 425 homes will be built, 25% of which will be social. The maximum building height of the new buildings is 26 to 47 meters. The existing monuments will remain standing. In the building the traffic circle there will be space for facilities. With this, the development will also contribute to the level of amenities for the immediate area.
The historical value of the buildings and the surroundings will be carefully handled during the redevelopment. The combination of living in green surroundings, close to the amenities of The Hague and the dunes will make the area attractive to future residents.
The project has now entered the final planning phase. Once the final studies have been completed, the zoning plan and image quality plan will be presented to the Wassenaar City Council for adoption. This will be in the fall of 2023.

Superior Agreement
An anterieure agreement has been concluded between the municipality of The Hague, the municipality of Wassenaar and the developing party ABB Ontwikkeling B.V. In this agreement, various agreements are laid down such as:
- Maintain water level in Clingendael Estate during the realization of the building plan;
- Possible traffic calming measures;
- Conservation of bridges and maintenance and management of the waterway;
- Consultation between ABB Ontwikkeling B.V. and the municipality of The Hague on the interpretation of the De Rotonde building;
- Number of housing units to be built and the percentage of these that are social.

Image Quality Plan
In 2023, the image quality plan was submitted for review. The image quality plan will guide the final design of the buildings and outdoor space.
