Wassenaar coffee house gets new future
The Koffiehuisje on Buurtweg 116 officially has a new owner as of September 22, 2025. This marks an important step in the preservation of this national monument, which is not only a familiar landmark in Wassenaar, but will soon once again become a lively meeting place for residents and visitors.
Meeting place
With the arrival of the new operator, Cook & Boon, the national monument will have a contemporary interpretation that does justice to the historic value of the building and is in line with the wishes of the neighborhood. From April 1, 2026, Het Koffiehuisje will reopen its doors, offering coffee, organic delicacies, fresh juices and homemade ice cream. A terrace will also be created. This will give the location renewed significance as a meeting place for residents, passers-by and visitors.

In choosing the buyer, consideration was given not only to the amount offered, but also to the quality of the plan and its feasibility. Important concerns were the preservation of the National Monument status, the flow of passers-by and the position of local residents. The chosen operator meets all of these Requirements and brings a plan that permanently secures the future of Het Koffiehuisje.
Alderman Laurens van Doeveren, Finance, Economy and Sports: "We are proud that this characteristic building will get a new future and will thus be preserved for the people of Wassenaar. The Koffiehuisje is a valuable piece of cultural heritage in Wassenaar and it is great that it will soon come back to life as a meeting place where residents and visitors can enjoy themselves together."
