Inclusion Agenda Wassenaar

The municipality of Wassenaar has long been committed to an inclusive society, as part of the program "Everyone Participates. The goal is clear: Wassenaar wants inclusion and accessibility to be self-evident in the municipality's policies, services and communications.

Therefore, there is now an implementation program: the Wassenaar Local Inclusion Agenda. This contains which actions the municipality will carry out. In this way Wassenaar ensures that everyone can participate and that places and services are accessible to everyone. The municipality regularly checks whether the actions are working well and adjusts them if necessary. The municipality will also continue to talk with residents, experience experts and organizations to work together on an inclusive Wassenaar.

In 2020, the then college made a commitment to the City Council to create a Local Inclusion Agenda. This was done in response to the UN Convention on Disability. In February 2022, the city council adopted a starting memorandum. Then, in June 2022, Inclusionlab was commissioned to create an inclusion agenda. An advisory report came in September 2023. This report gave good ideas, but no clear actions yet.

With the new implementation program, however, there are now clear actions. These are divided into short-term (from 2025) and long-term (from 2026). This keeps it clear and easy to implement.
