Quality of youth services

The municipality must ensure that youth aid is accessible and safe. To regulate this, agreements have been made about the quality of youth aid (quality requirements).

The Health and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ) oversees this. The Inspectorate checks whether the municipality is complying with the agreements.

Who the agreements apply to

The agreements on quality apply to all kinds of youth aid. Like the help for children to grow up safely (youth protection). And help that some young people receive when they have done something criminal (youth probation).

Reporting a complaint

Do you have a complaint about youth care? Report this to the youth care organization. The organization will review with you how the problem arose and what is possible to resolve it.

You can also report your complaint to theNational Health Hotline. You can make a report on your own behalf. Or as a parent, caregiver or companion of someone receiving help.

Examples of complaints

These may include, for example:

  • doubts about how parenting is done
  • theft
  • violence
  • things that happen against one's will (transgressive behavior)
  • behavior that makes someone feel unsafe (intimidating behavior)
  • serious or permanent damage to a person's body
  • psychological problems
  • someone died unexpectedly
  • someone committed suicide or tried to do so

Did something else happen at the youth care organization? Discuss this with the organization itself or with the municipality.

What does the National Health Hotline do?

The National Health Hotline will not resolve your complaint. That is the responsibility of the youth care organization itself.

Your report may say something about the quality of youth care. The Landelijk Meldpunt Health collects all complaints and makes overviews of them.
