Entrepreneurs in the spotlight at Maaldrift: from custom bathrooms to healthy workplaces
Sani Bathrooms and VerseBox at the Maaldrift business park recently received a visit from Alderman van Doeveren and two business liaison officers from the municipality. The purpose of these working visits is to get to know entrepreneurs better, hear what is going on, and explore opportunities together. They are part of an ongoing series of meetings in which the Alderman emphasizes Alderman importance of personal contact and strong ties with the local business community.
Craftsmanship and expertise at Sani Bathrooms
At Sani Bathrooms on Rijksstraatweg 66, owner Dave van Wouw was ready to give us a warm welcome, a tour of the company, and a good chat. He told us how the company has grown significantly in recent years: what started in 2007 as a technical wholesaler has now grown into a specialist in complete bathroom solutions, from design to delivery. In the showroom, customers receive personal guidance so that they can choose the right materials and products with confidence.
Regional connections and international projects
Sani Badkamers works on a wide range of projects, such as the Ridderhof senior citizens' homes, and through Sani Marine and Sani Hotellerie has high-quality expertise for both luxury yachts and hotel projects throughout the Netherlands. By focusing on appointments and customization, the company distinguishes itself in the regional and international market. Van Wouw is strongly committed to cooperation and short lines of communication within the region. Since October, he has been a member of the board of BIZ Maaldrift, where he is committed to fostering a close-knit business community in the area. Dave and his colleagues also expressed their enthusiasm about the redesign of the traffic circle, a project in collaboration with the municipality that has noticeably improved the accessibility and appearance of Maaldrift I.

VerseBox: healthy energy for every workplace
At VerseBox on Marineweg 1, owner Kay D'Ancona and manager Martijn van Delft welcomed the Alderman an inspiring visit. The company started four years ago in Voorschoten, but moved to Maaldrift due to rapid growth. They deliver fruit boxes to around 1,200 companies between Amsterdam and Rotterdam and, thanks to their ambition, perseverance, and love of fresh fruit, have grown into a distinctive player in the region. They are known for their high quality and flexibility: the fruit comes fresh from the Westland and Rotterdam regions, is carefully distributed among the boxes, and is personally delivered to the company canteen by regular drivers.

Sustainable and social entrepreneurship
VerseBox also has a clear social mission. The company wants to replace unhealthy snacks in the workplace with healthy alternatives. They also support initiatives such as Stichting Jarige Job and De Haagse Soepbus, which are committed to a fairer and healthier society. A special part of their mission is to provide employment opportunities for former addicts. This approach strengthens the team and offers people a new chance on the labor market. Furthermore, VerseBox works with sustainable growers and logistics partners who are committed to CO₂ reduction, uses circular packaging, keeps supply chains short, and delivers with electric vans.
Laurens van Doeveren expressed his appreciation: "At Sani Bathrooms and VerseBox, you can see how diverse, driven, and forward-thinking our local entrepreneurs are. From craftsmanship and customization to health, sustainability, and social engagement. By regularly visiting companies, we gain valuable insights into what is going on. This enables us, as a municipality, to better meet their needs and work together to build strong, innovative, and resilient entrepreneurship in Wassenaar."
