Court of Auditors Commission

What is a commission of auditors?

The Court of Audit is a committee that supports the municipal council in its framework-setting and controlling task. It conducts independent research, examining the extent to which the municipality has acted efficiently, effectively and lawfully. Among other things, this means that the Court of Auditors examines whether the goals set by the municipality are achieved and whether this has been done at the lowest possible cost. The emphasis of the investigations is on the (social) effects of the policy (effectiveness).

Mission and goals of the Court Commission

The Wassenaar, Voorschoten, Oegstgeest and Leidschendam-Voorburg Court of Audit Commission is aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of local government in these municipalities. These municipalities jointly established a Court of Audit Commission in 2005, and work began in early 2006.

The goals are that the results of the Court of Auditors' investigations contribute to:

  • strengthening the framework and control function of the city council
  • making visible to the citizens of Oegstgeest, Voorschoten and Wassenaar the way in which the objectives of the municipality are actually achieved
