Building a vital, authentic and experienceable landscape together

Over the past period involved residents, farmers, estate owners and other interested parties have contributed ideas about the future prospects of the Duin Horst & Weide agricultural landscape. Thanks in part to their valuable input, the Heading Document Future-proof Cultural Landscape Dune Horst & Meadow was created. This document has now been unanimously adopted by the members of the Landscape Table Dune Horst & Weide, who are jointly committed to taking the ambitions from the course document further within their organizations.

The importance of participation

Much knowledge and experience was shared during the participation meetings. The information gathered forms the basis for the course document, in which an updated future image for Duin Horst & Weide is described. Thanks to the efforts and involvement of all participants, a realistic action perspective has been developed for the preservation and strengthening of this unique cultural landscape.

Project Status

The project Future-proof Cultural Landscape Dune Horst & Meadow is the first priority project from the implementation program Dune Horst & Meadow 2024-2028. This course document is not a new policy, but a practical tool for the Landscape Table and its collaborating parties. It helps to stay on course towards the shared ambitions for a vital, authentic and experienceable rural area. It aligns with existing policy frameworks and responds to current developments.

Purpose of the Heading Document

The Heading Document updates the picture of the future for Dune Horst & Weide. It focuses on an authentic, vital and experienceable landscape, with special attention for the social challenges of our time. Think of themes such as housing, biodiversity, agricultural and energy transition, nitrogen reduction and climate adaptation. The farmers are the bearers of the centuries-old cultural landscape; their role is emphatically recognized.

Concrete recommendations and inspiration

The course document offers concrete recommendations for strengthening and preserving a future-proof cultural landscape. Governments, farmers, estate owners and individuals will find inspiration and encouragement in this document to contribute to the ambitions of Duin Horst & Weide with their own proposals. It offers clarity about the current course and invites cooperation.
