Beach App Provides Wassenaar Beachgoers with Real-Time Safety Information

With summer just around the corner, beachgoers along the Wassenaar coast can now use the Strand-App. The app provides up-to-date safety information about Dutch beaches and has now been further improved with a direct link between the lifeguard stations and the status displayed in the app.

What does the app offer beachgoers in Wassenaar?

With the Strandveilig Beach App, visitors can see at a glance whether lifeguards are on duty at the beach, where the lifeguard stations are located, and whether they are currently open. The app also provides information on current risks, the meaning of the warning flags, and practical tips and advice for a safe time at the beach.
For the municipality of Wassenaar, the app also provides additional information about tourist accommodations, beach accessibility, local details, and any ongoing construction work. This way, visitors know exactly what to expect before they even set out.

New integration with HaaglandenVeilig

An important new feature of the app is its integration with Haaglandenveilig.nl. This allows beachgoers to immediately see whether it’s safe to go swimming in the region.
Since the summer of 2024, beachgoers along the entire Dutch coast have been able to use the Strand-App. The app is an initiative of the national project “Het Strand Veilig,” a collaboration between the Dutch Institute for Swimming Location Safety (NIVZ), the Dutch Lifeguard Association, the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM), and the Haaglanden Safety Region.

Download the app

The Strandveilig Beach App is available for download from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android). Beachgoers in Wassenaar are advised to check the app before entering the water, verify the HaaglandenVeilig status, and always look out for one another while swimming in the ocean.
