Rental Sports Hall De Schulpwei

The Wassenaar Municipal Executive decided at the end of 2024 to keep sports hall De Schulpwei on the Dr. Mansveltkade as a sports facility. The municipality is now looking for a new operator for the sports hall who wants to invest and give the building a new sports destination.

Maintaining The Schulpwei as a sports facility.

In May 2024, the brand new sports hall De Duinpan opened its doors, replacing the old sports hall De Schulpwei. This modern facility marked an important step in the improvement of sports facilities in Wassenaar. At the end of 2023, the municipality launched a reconnaissance study into the future of De Schulpwei. Several market parties also showed interest in the property. After thorough investigation, the Municipal Executive decided in late 2024 to keep De Schulpwei as a sports facility. Demolishing the hall turned out to be unnecessary and would also involve substantial additional costs. Retaining De Schulpwei contributes significantly to the sporting opportunities in Wassenaar and also has a positive impact on the municipal operating budget. During the exploratory phase several parties expressed their enthusiasm about the process, the research and the outcome to keep De Schulpwei sports hall.

Supplement to activities The Dunepan and outdoor sports

Sports Hall de Schulpwei, like De Duinpan, is located on Dr. Mansveltkade and is in an attractive area where sports and exercise come together. The location offers opportunities for broadening the sports and exercise offerings. However, it is important that the activities in De Schulpwei complement those of De Duinpan. The use of De Schulpwei should offer a valuable expansion without competition with indoor sports. To avoid competition with De Duinpan, this will be explicitly included in the selection guidelines.

New operator

The municipality is seeking a new operator for De Schulpwei sports hall that will contribute to the sports offer and sustainably improve the building into a future-proof, gas-free property. The lease will take place in the current state of the building, without any guarantees or obligations on the part of the municipality to make improvements or repairs.

Selection process rental and operation

The selection procedure for the lease and operation of the property to interested parties will start on Friday, April 11, 2025. The property will be offered through Barnhoorn Bedrijfsmakelaardij B.V. on Funda in Business. To participate in the pre-selection phase, interested parties should submit the requested documents digitally via schulpwei@wassenaar.nl no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, May 23, 2025 .
