30 km/h becomes the new standard in Wassenaar

From February 27, 2026, 30 kilometers per hour will be the new standard in Wassenaar. This means that on 98.5% of the roads in the village, the maximum speed will be 30 km/h. This measure will contribute to a safer, more liveable, and more sustainable Wassenaar. Lower speeds will make the roads quieter and safer for all road users.

Decision made together with residents

The decision is based on the widely supported advice of the citizens' council. In this citizens' council, which took place in 2023-2024, residents of Wassenaar discussed traffic, safety, and quality of life. The desire to improve traffic safety with GOW30 roads was clearly expressed. With this measure, the municipality is responding to this wish of the citizens' council.

Adjustment of traffic signs to start at the end of January

To make the new speed limit clearly visible, the municipality will be modifying existing traffic signs and installing new ones in the coming period. This involves approximately 200 signs throughout the municipality. These modifications will start at the end of January. Residents will notice this in the streetscape in the coming weeks. Clear signs ensure that everyone knows what speed limit applies.
