The Wassenaar census of 1829

Censuses were held in the Netherlands with some regularity in the past. The first national census dates from 1795/1796, the second from 1807/1808. The next one took place in 1829 and since then, until the last census in 1971, every ten years.
The results of the national censuses were based on data from local censuses. For this purpose, local census registers were established in all municipalities. Such census registers are also kept in the Wassenaar municipal archives.
