Grand Opening of Wassenaar’s Newest Play and Activity Area

Amid great excitement from young and old alike, the new play and activity area at Geesbert van Barneveld Park was officially opened on Wednesday, October 7. Children made full use of the playground equipment, while parents, grandparents, and other neighborhood residents gathered to celebrate this wonderful addition to Wassenaar.

Alderman Rebecca Baart kicked off the opening ceremony with a symbolic kick toward the goal and emphasized the importance of attractive and accessible spaces where residents can play, be active, and meet one another. The play and activity area is suitable for all ages and designed so that people with disabilities can also use it.

Physical Activities

Visitors were able to participate in a variety of physical activities. Under the guidance of Mr. Dennis, community sports coach Wesley Bierens, and coach Soraya, there were sports activities for both children and adults. The friendly atmosphere and large turnout underscored just how welcome this new facility is.
