The Municipality of Wassenaar Presents Its Implementation Plan for the Coming Years
On Friday, the Municipal Executive of Wassenaar submitted its Executive Action Plan to the City Council. The plan outlines more than 100 specific actions that the municipality intends to carry out in the coming years and which will be actively managed.
Most of the 100 concrete actions—such as getting housing projects back on track, increasing funding for sports, increasing visible law enforcement on the streets, improving traffic safety, creating a vibrant downtown, and simplifying the permit application process—will begin as early as 2026 or 2027.
In addition, a number of major projects—such as the renovation of De Paauw Town Hall, various school renovations, and the construction of a new school in Wassenaar-Noord and the Warenar Theater—must be started or completed. This will ensure that Wassenaar is in even better shape four years from now. The progress and implementation of these actions will be monitored. An annual review will assess whether the municipality is on track. Course corrections will be made as needed.
The implementation agenda is the next step in carrying out the “Building Wassenaar Together” Cooperation Agreement, which was published in May 2026. That agreement was not an endpoint, but rather forms the basis for the village’s plans and future. This new program specifies, for each action, when it must be completed and, if necessary, how much additional funding is required. For the municipality of Wassenaar, the program serves as a roadmap that provides direction for navigating toward the next destination.
This allows residents, business owners, and community organizations in Wassenaar to follow what the municipality is doing—and what it plans to initiate and accomplish in the coming years. The municipality of Wassenaar aims to be a clear, approachable, and reliable municipality that works to build a Wassenaar where people can live, work, and thrive safely and healthily.
Alderman Laurens van Doeveren: “This is how we make participation in policy and projects more accessible and transparent. It also ensures that our decisions are better aligned with the concerns of the people of Wassenaar. As a committed and enthusiastic municipal council, we look forward to dedicating our energy and enthusiasm to this effort in the coming years.”
For the city council, this program is being fleshed out further, including a long-term agenda.
