The Circular Counter
In South Holland, we are working toward a fully circular society by 2050. This means a society without waste, in which we reuse existing raw materials and materials for new products. To achieve this ambition, the province of South Holland motivates cooperation between entrepreneurs, researchers, residents and governments.
Specifically in the municipality of Wassenaar, we encourage entrepreneurs to participate in this joint quest for sustainability. Since as much as 30% of raw material consumption lies in South Holland, the involvement of entrepreneurs in Wassenaar is crucial to the success of this transition. Together we can work towards a sustainable future for our region.
Do you want to do business with waste streams and renewable materials, but get lost in complex regulations? Or are you already a circular entrepreneur, but the administrative-legal landscape offers challenges? Then you have come to the right place for answers to your questions. The Circulair Loket is the starting point for questions about doing business with renewable and secondary raw materials, circular experiments and other legal and administrative questions around circular entrepreneurship.
Who can contact the Circular Counter?
The counter is an inquiry point for all entrepreneurs and associations in South Holland that do or want to do circular business, for example with residual streams. From start-ups and SMEs to large organizations.
Are you not yet working on permits, but are curious about what is possible? Or are you past this stage and looking for advice on a complicated situation? Then knock on the Circular Counter. After submitting your question you will be told what the expected turnaround time is. This depends in part on the complexity of the question.
How does it work?
Complete the form below and submit your question. A question you submit will go directly to the South Holland environmental services. There, a specialist is ready to help you personally. You will automatically be notified of how quickly you can expect an answer. This depends, among other things, on the complexity of your question.
Why a circular counter?
We are working toward a fully circular society. An important way to achieve that goal is to utilize residual streams as raw materials. However, laws and regulations still lag behind in some areas and are primarily focused on a linear economy in which materials are discarded at the end of their useful life. The use of waste materials as raw materials is therefore complicated and subject to many rules. This also applies to renewable raw materials that are not yet used in the linear economy. For entrepreneurs, this often means a lengthy and costly search for the right procedures and permits. A great shame, because that time could be better spent doing what they do best: doing business and making a positive contribution.
That's where the Circulair Loket comes in. In this unique collaboration between the province and South Holland municipalities, the five environmental services led by DCMR help South Holland entrepreneurs gain insight into the procedures involved in circular entrepreneurship. At the same time, the questions asked also make clear what problems entrepreneurs encounter. This knowledge can help adjust or better explain laws and regulations. This will remove an important hurdle in realizing the circular economy in South Holland.
