What will the municipality of Wassenaar look like in 2040?

How will you live and work in Wassenaar in 2040? And what do you think is important for the quality of life in your town? In the coming years, decisions will need to be made about how Wassenaar will develop.  

The municipality of Wassenaar is therefore working on an Environmental Vision: a plan for what your village will look like in 2040. There are many possibilities, but not everything can happen at the same time in the same place.

That is why we would like to hear what you consider important for the future of the municipality of Wassenaar. Your ideas and experiences will help guide the decisions that need to be made, both now and in the future.

In the coming period, there will be several opportunities for you to contribute your thoughts and share your ideas.

Share your thoughts on six topics

The discussions will focus on six themes:

  • Nature and Landscape
  • Heritage and Character
  • Healthy and Safe
  • Housing and Amenities
  • Traffic and Accessibility
  • Work and Energy

Based on these themes, we will discuss important choices and dilemmas for the future of Wassenaar.

Drop-in sessions at the Library, Langstraat 40

  • Wednesday, June 24, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 1, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 2, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

During these meetings, you can review information, respond to questions, and talk with the project team.

Street Conversations in the Village

  • Wednesday, July 1, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., near Albert Heijn (Stadhoudersplein 4)
  • Friday, July 3, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., small square at the corner of Van Hogendorpstraat and Achterweg

Here, in just a few minutes, you can share what you think is important for the future of Wassenaar.

Are you unable to attend a public consultation session? The informational materials will be available for review at the library between June 24 and July 3. You can also leave your feedback there using a feedback card. The project team will not be present during this time. For opening hours, please visit the library’s website at .

What happens to your contribution?

We will use all feedback when drafting the first version of the Environmental Vision. We will also include the results in a participation report. This will allow you to review later which ideas, concerns, and points of interest residents shared, and what was done with them.

An initial summary of the results will be posted on the website in July. The full participation report will follow in September, and we will show how the input has been incorporated. The city council is expected to adopt the Environmental Vision in the spring of 2027.
