Wassenaar is working together toward a more sustainable future. To significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, insulation is the smartest first step. It not only lowers your energy bill but also immediately improves your living comfort. Plus, you’re preparing your home for a future without natural gas.
Start off on the right foot and get it right the first time
Insulate for the future: roof, floors, exterior walls, and gaps. Always choose the highest quality (for example, HR++ glass instead of regular double-pane glass). This way, you’ll avoid regretting investments that will already be outdated in 10 years.
Neighborhood Approach: Together We Are Strong
The municipality is working on insulation plans neighborhood by neighborhood, in collaboration with residents. The following neighborhoods are scheduled for 2025: Duindigt/Groenendaal, Rijksdorp/De Pan, Oud-Wassenaar, Maaldrift, Klingenbosch, Oud-Clingendaal, and the surrounding rural areas.

Animal-friendly insulation
Did you know that protected animals, such as bats, house sparrows, or swifts, may be living under your roof or in your cavity walls? This is quite common in Wassenaar, especially in older homes. Before you start insulating, it’s important to take this into account. Fortunately, you can insulate your home while also protecting wildlife—the two go hand in hand.
