Lead pipes in house

Do you live in a house built before 1960? If so, perhaps your home still has lead water pipes. Lead particles can get into your drinking water through pipes. Too much lead can harm your health. This is why it is important to replace lead pipes, no matter how hidden they sometimes are.

Check if your home still has lead pipes

Most of the water pipes are under the floor or in the wall. Therefore, the first thing to check at the water meter is whether your house still has lead pipes. Are the pipes at the water meter made of lead? Then there is a chance that there are lead pipes further on.

Lead pipe replacement

Dunea is the sole supplier of drinking water in Wassenaar. Since 1995, the drinking water company has been actively removing lead pipes from its distribution network up to the water meter. When a piece of lead pipe is still found during work, it is replaced immediately. Owners of homes and buildings are responsible for replacing any interior lead pipes.
