NATO summit June 24 and 25, 2025

On June 24 and 25, 2025, the NATO Summit will take place in The Hague. Because of the NATO Summit, various traffic measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the delegations and the surrounding area. Part of the package of measures include road closures of short and long duration.

Temporary traffic measures will be taken from Sunday afternoon, June 22 until Thursday evening, June 26, 2025. The most important measure is the creation of a cleared route for delegates between Schiphol Airport and The Hague. This is also referred to as the 'corridor'. Please take into account limited accessibility to Wassenaar during the NATO Summit. See below the measures per means of transport and security measures.

Subject to change. Always allow for unforeseen traffic stops at all crossing points and bicycle tunnels.

The bicycle route through the dunes to The Hague and Scheveningen will remain open. From Kerkehout one can cycle via the bicycle tunnel towards Wassenaar. Alternatively, one can cycle via Raaphorstlaan and Horst and Voordelaan towards Voorschoten. This route connects to the express bicycle route between Leiden and The Hague (Velostrada).

For bicycle traffic, the following bicycle connections can be used:
- The bicycle path along the Ommedijkseweg towards Leiden;
- The bicycle tunnel at Den Deijl towards Voorschoten and;
- The bicycle tunnel at Kerkehout as a connection Kerkehout - Wassenaar.

There are no restrictions on the tracks. The NS runs the normal timetable to ensure that people can get from A to B as usual. It can get extra crowded on the train, though. There is no extra capacity available to reduce those crowds. Voorschoten Station is accessible by bicycle from Wassenaar as usual.

Bus

No buses from transportation company EBS will run to, through or from Wassenaar during peak times. Check the EBS website for the schedule of adjusted and cancelled bus routes.

Safety

For the orderly conduct of the NATO Summit, additional security measures will be taken, such as road closures, traffic controllers and additional police surveillance. These measures have been coordinated in consultation with the municipality of Wassenaar.

In addition, an emergency ordinance will be drawn up for shipping. The emergency ordinance oversees the maritime area within the municipality of Wassenaar. The beaches will remain accessible to bathers and it will be possible to swim, surf, wave, wind and/or kite surf up to 500 meters in the sea, but not for motorized boats and sailing ships.
