NATO summit June 24 and 25: Wassenaar traffic measures in view

On Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the NATO Summit will take place in The Hague. Measures will also be taken in Wassenaar then to ensure security. This has implications for traffic in and around Wassenaar.

Limited accessibility: allow for additional travel time

During these days, Wassenaar will remain accessible by bicycle. By car, Wassenaar will be accessible during the NATO Summit via detour routes such as the N441 (Katwijkseweg) and N206 (Ingenieur G. Tjalmaweg/Plesmanlaan). The roads from the N44 towards Voorschoten and The Hague will be closed within the time periods when delegations can drive over the route. This will be the case Monday evening, Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening. Outside the window times, these routes will also be available.

Nevertheless, everyone should take into account limited accessibility to Wassenaar and longer travel times. At the same time, we all see that the world is becoming increasingly unstable and that gatherings such as the NATO summit play an important role in everyone's security. Let's make sure together that everything goes safely and well."

Plan your route on time

Due to the NATO Summit, several traffic measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the delegations and the surrounding area. The municipality requests your understanding for the temporary traffic measures. The municipality itself has no influence on the measures and cannot make exceptions. 

Therefore, we ask everyone to plan their own route in advance whenever possible. By choosing a route in advance and taking bikes as much as possible, we can together ensure a safe and smooth passage. This way we can avoid extra crowds.
