Getting together and having great conversations over lunch at Amarosa
On Tuesday, August 25, the Municipal Executive visited the Amarosa care organization in Wassenaar. The group was welcomed by André Maaskant, Amarosa’s executive secretary, and Marja den Haan, a coaching counselor. During the working visit, the members of the Municipal Executive helped prepare lunch and spoke with residents about their experiences, life stories, and wishes.
Important role as a gathering place
Amarosa supports residents of Wassenaar through the various stages of aging. Among other services, the organization offers home care, day programs, household assistance, residential care, and nursing home care. In addition, Amarosa serves as an important gathering place for older adults and family caregivers in the municipality.
With multiple locations, 151 residential care beds, over 400 employees, and more than 130 volunteers, Amarosa is not only a major healthcare organization but also one of the larger employers in Wassenaar. The organization helps ensure that older adults can continue to live in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible and actively participate in society.
Alderman Paut Struik: “At Amarosa, it’s all about people. We believe it’s important not just to talk about older adults, but to talk with them. By preparing lunch together and taking the time to talk, we gain valuable insight into their daily lives and what really matters to them.”
The working visit highlights the importance of organizations like Amarosa, which work every day to provide Health, support, and social interaction for older adults in Wassenaar.
