Regulation of official integrity

Official Integrity

Official integrity is of great importance to the functioning of the municipality of Wassenaar.
As the 'first level of government', we are close to residents, administrators, and social partners. This requires us to carry out our work carefully, transparently, and reliably, and to always put the public interest first.

Residents must be able to trust that decisions are made fairly, that interests are carefully weighed, and that we handle information and personal data with care.

Official integrity is reflected in everyday actions within the organization. It concerns the way in which work is carried out, how responsibilities are assumed, and how situations involving interests, confidentiality, or professional conduct are handled. This applies to everyone who works for or on behalf of the municipality of Wassenaar, including employees, interns, and external contractors.

In practice, official integrity relates to, among other things, preventing conflicts of interest, handling (confidential) information with care, reporting secondary activities and financial interests, and acting with care in the event of undesirable behavior or (suspected) misconduct.

The Wassenaar Municipal Integrity Regulations set out the principles, frameworks, and procedures that guide ethical conduct within the organization. The regulations describe the behavior that is expected and provide guidance on how to deal carefully with integrity issues, questions, and dilemmas in everyday practice.
