Tamara
Communications Advisor
"I am a spider in the web between different departments, where internal and external communication with residents (and other stakeholders) is most important. I am also one of the Alderman 's sparring partners and help him think about how best to set up projects and topics. Things like writing letters to residents about the change in garbage collection, reading along on a council letter, making a press release and sending it to the media about an adjustment to a bridge in the village, planning social media messages and finding text and images to go with them and making a communication plan for a major project in the center of Wassenaar. Crisis communication for intense events also occurs from time to time."
What do you like most about your work?
"Almost everything is fun to do, just the variety makes it attractive. Although my heart is with language. I love reading along on documents, removing spelling mistakes and thinking about how something can be made even clearer for the target group. So that everyone understands it (B1 language level)."

Why did you choose to work for a municipality?
"A job where social interest is more paramount and it is not mainly about making more money or selling more products, that was what I was looking for. Choosing a municipality, which basically always puts the resident first and has many social issues, fits in nicely with that."
What attracted you to Wassenaar?
"Born in Delft and always living in Noordwijk and Voorhout, Wassenaar was a municipality that I saw passing by regularly. Both on social media and in the newspaper. Or because we drove past it on our way to the dentist in Delft. Then we would go shopping or have a drink in the village. I also visited Duinrell many times as a child. So I've been in touch with green, cozy Wassenaar a lot since I was a kid."
What qualities should a communications consultant bring?
"You must be proactive and enjoy being a spider in the web. Being able to work in a dynamic environment and keep a good overview is important. In addition, I think being team-oriented is important. Keeping your team and colleagues up to date on everything going on is a must."
