Diseased and dead trees cut in December
In December, a contractor company commissioned by the municipality of Wassenaar will cut down diseased and dead trees in public areas within the municipality of Wassenaar.
In the short term, a new tree will be replanted for every tree removed.
Why do we sometimes cut down trees?
Municipality of Wassenaar is a green municipality. Trees are a very important part of that. We certainly want to keep them that way. Unfortunately, it is occasionally necessary to cut down trees because they are diseased or dead. That includes dealing carefully with the felling and replanting of trees. In cooperation with an outside party, the trees that line avenues and streets are inspected annually. Each year, 1/3 of the trees in the municipality are inspected. Every year a report is issued on the inspected part. After this, it is assessed whether a tree should be cut down according to strict guidelines.
