Advisory Committee - Wassenaar Environmental Quality (OKW).
What does the advisory committee do?
The Wassenaar Environmental Quality Advisory Committee (OKW, formerly WCE) is an advisory committee that advises the municipal executive on building plans in the municipality of Wassenaar. The members are independent experts and each have their own specialism. The committee has one citizen member. This member has been appointed to contribute the vision of the citizen in the field of building standards. The OKW Advisory Committee tests building plans against the quality criteria in the Wassenaar Welstand and Visual Quality Manual. It not only gives advice on 'ordinary' building plans such as a renovation or the construction of a new house. She is also involved in urban planning developments, such as a new housing estate and in determining the area plan. The Municipal Executive also seeks advice from the OKW Advisory Committee for changes to cultural heritage. These are national and municipal monuments, image-defining buildings and protected village views. In addition, the board seeks advice on cultural heritage aspects for non-monuments, such as new construction in a protected village view or cultural landscapes.
Welfare procedure
Permit applications and preliminary consultation situations are always first reviewed for completeness of the submitted data and against the environmental plan. If the plan meets the requirements, it can be submitted to the Advisory Committee for advice.
Meetings
The meetings of the Advisory Committee are public and are held in Raadhuis De Paauw, Raadhuislaan 22, Wassenaar. During the meeting, you as an applicant or interested party can explain the building application or your views. If you wish to do so, you must mention this with your application. Because the meetings are public, it is possible to attend without the right to speak; you do not need to register for this. If you wish to speak (briefly) as an interested party, you must notify the secretary in advance.
