Waste tax
Every household in Wassenaar pays a waste collection fee. This covers the collection and processing of household waste.
How does it work?
You are required to pay the waste collection fee even if you generate little or no household waste. The revenue from this fee is used to cover the costs of collecting and processing household waste.
The rate depends on the type of residence and the number of people in your household. A distinction is made between single-person households and multi-person households.
What to do
Every year, you will receive a tax assessment from the Gouwe-Rijnland Tax Cooperation (abbreviation: BSGR). This assessment states the amount you must pay and the deadline for payment. The waste collection fee is included in this amount. You can find the waste collection fee ordinance on the website under “Official Notices.”
The amount on the tax assessment is for the entire tax year. If you move to Wassenaar during the year, your registration date determines the tax period. If you move to another municipality, you pay up to and including the month of deregistration and will automatically receive a reduction. If you move within Wassenaar, nothing changes.
