Scattering ashes
You can scatter the ashes of a deceased person. This may be done in the open sea or in a scattering field intended for that purpose. If you want to scatter the ashes in another place, you need an exemption from the municipality.
How does it work?
After a cremation, the ashes of the deceased are collected in an ash container. This ash container remains in the general niche of the crematorium for one month. During this month, you decide what you want to do with the ashes.
If you wish to scatter ashes in the Persijnhof Cemetery scattering field please contact the administrator, or complete the digital form.
If you want to scatter the ashes in the dunes or other territory that is not managed by the municipality of Wassenaar, you will have to ask the owner of the area what the possibilities are.
Additional information
In addition to scattering the ashes, you can also do the following with them:
- Keep at home in an ornamental urn
- take abroad
- interring the urn in a grave or niche in an urn wall
- preserving part of the ashes in a piece of jewelry or glass object
