Proof of Dutch citizenship
A proof of Dutch citizenship is a written statement from the municipality. It states that you have the Dutch nationality. For example, you may need a proof of Dutch citizenship if you:
- moving abroad
- is getting married
- Is applying for a position in public administration
What to do
There are several ways to get proof of Dutch citizenship:
- You can use DigiD to use the digital form.
- You visit the municipality in person.
- You authorize someone to do this on your behalf. The authorized person must be of age.
- You request the proof in writing.
How long does it take?
You will receive the proof of Dutch citizenship immediately. If you request the certificate in writing, the municipality will send it to your home address. This takes a few days.
