Bibi and Gus - interns Internationals
"Responsibility, contact with ambassadors and work experience in a government organization" these were reasons for us to choose an internship Internationals at the municipality of Wassenaar. Bibi: "It is a small organization and that gives you the freedom to implement your own ideas. I had regular meetings with the mayor and I liked that too." Gijs: "The contacts with international organizations seemed very interesting to me. I wanted to gain work experience before applying for a permanent job."
Both Gus and Bibi worked with the British former Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw to create a monument to victims of sexual war violence(Petrified Survivors). They also wrote speeches and letters for the mayor.
When asked what qualities an intern should bring, Gijs replied; "You have to be strong in your shoes, analytically strong and above all social and helpful." "An approach mentality and being able to work independently," Bibi considers essential.
Bibi and Gijs live in Amsterdam and studied International Relations.
