Bibob
If you hold or apply for a license or enter into an agreement with the municipality, the municipality may apply a bibob investigation. The bibob investigation takes place on the basis of the Wet bevordering integriteitsbeoordelingen door het openbaar bestuur (Bibob Act).
In a bibob investigation, the municipality investigates the integrity of you, your company and the persons involved. In this way, the municipality prevents permits, subsidies, government contracts and real estate transactions from being misused by and for criminals. For example, for laundering black money or committing other criminal offenses.
When does the municipality conduct additional research?
The Municipality of Wassenaar has adopted a policy rule for the application of the Bibob Act. You can view this policy rule in the Municipal Gazette, or click here. The Municipality of Wassenaar applies the Bibob Act in the following areas:
- Permits under the APV, such as operating permits
- Permits under the Alcohol Act, being the alcohol permit
- Environmental permits under the Omgevingswet
- Grants
- Tenders
- Real estate agreements, such as leases and sales agreements.
The municipality mainly applies the bibob investigation when you apply for a permit or before you enter into an agreement with us. It may also happen that the municipality conducts a bibob investigation at a later time, for example, when you already have the permit, or you have already entered into the agreement.
