Plant and animal code of conduct

The Municipality of Wassenaar considers it important to treat plants and animals carefully during work in public spaces. This is why we follow guidelines laid down in the Codes of Conduct for species protection. These codes of conduct are drawn up by the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) and help us to protect nature during maintenance and work.

The Municipal Code of Conduct applies in the public areas of Wassenaar as well as in natural areas owned by the municipality, namely:

• De Paauw estate
• Backershagen estate
• De Wittenburg estate
• The forest near the Katwijkseweg
