Handicapped parking pass
A disabled parking permit allows you to park in disabled parking spaces in all EU countries, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. However, you must follow local parking rules.
There are 3 types of Maps.
Driver's card
- You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
- You can drive your own car.
Passenger card
- You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
- You cannot drive a car by yourself. You constantly need the help of a driver.
You can also apply for a combination of a driver card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently confined to a wheelchair.
Settings Card
The board of an institution where people with disabilities reside may apply for a disabled parking permit for the transportation of residents.
How does it work?
- The parking ticket is in a person's name.
- The parking map is not by license plate number. You can use the Map for any car.
- The parking pass is valid for up to 5 years.
What to do
- You apply for the disabled parking permit at the municipality.
- A medical authority examines your physical disability. The municipality determines which authority does this.
What do I need?
- Your valid proof of identity
- A recent passport photo that meets the passport photo requirements
- Evidence of medical examination
How long does it take?
Depending on the medical examination, the turnaround time is 8 to 16 weeks.
Cost
2025
- Cost of European Disabled Parking Card: €40.70 (excluding cost of medical examination)
- When issued for a duplicate, you pay €31.35
- Standard medical advice (Argonaut): € 145.80
- In case of no-show, the applicant will be charged the inspection authority's no-show fee of €145,80. The rules of the inspection authority regarding timely cancellation are leading.
