Applying for municipal awards

The Municipality of Wassenaar has several awards, namely:

• Municipal medal
• Mayor Staab Medal
• Medal of honor of the municipality of Wassenaar
• Paauw Cultural Medal Wassenaar

Municipal medal

The municipal medal has great social value. This medal can be awarded to persons for significant merits towards the citizenry, certain groups of the citizenry or towards the municipality.

This medal has been awarded to persons who are active as volunteers in the Wassenaar society: a.o. : A. de Rooy - Buurtvereniging Oostdorp (2003), H. van Smirren - Olympia '72 (2004), O.A.L. Olland-Verkade and R.M.G. Jacobs-Schreur - UVV-Wassenaar (2005), mrs. C.M. Mullink-van der Donk (2005), Ms. L. Wagner (2006), Mr. A.H. Rozema (2007), Ms. H.C.J. Vegt-van Berkesteijn (2007), Ms. E.M. de Vogel-van Spronssen (2008), Mr. J.H. Riem (2008), Mr. J.N.G van der Kooy (2009), Mr. C.H. van Leeuwen (2009). Mrs. A. Krosse-Thierry and Mrs. D. van Veen-Krosse - Buurvereniging Oostdorp en omgeving (2010) Mr. D.K. Wielinga - Stichting Kunst en Cultuur (2010) Mr. R. Mayor Staab Medal

This medal may be awarded once every two years to an association or institution based in Wassenaar for a long period of time that has worked for the interests of a significant group of the Wassenaar population.

This medal has been awarded to, among others: Music Association Excelsior (2001), YMCA (2004) and Wassenaar Orange Association Queen Wilhelmina (2006).

Medal of honor of the municipality of Wassenaar 

The Medal of Honor is intended for Wassenaarders who have actively devoted themselves in the working membership, both in the main function and in subsidiary functions towards the municipality and/or citizenry.

This medal has been awarded to former mayors, former aldermen, H.R.J. Graaf van Zuylen van Nijevelt (2000) Dr. R. Steenstra (2001) Drs. A.C. Helfrich (2003) and Mr. C.R.F Kalff (2009), among others.

Paauw Cultural Medal Wassenaar

This medal may be awarded once every two years to a person or group of persons (w.o. Cultural Associations or Foundations) who have made themselves especially deserving in a facet of culture, thus providing an impetus to Wassenaar's cultural life.

This medal has been awarded to, among others: Drs. P.H. Schoute (2000), R. van Lit (2002) and J.N.A. Caldenborgh (2005).
