Feasibility study rezoning project Warenar

The village hall activities and theater at Cultural Center the Warenar at Kerkstraat 75 in Wassenaar fulfill an important social function in the village. In the Coalition Agreement 'Together for Wassenaar' of March 11, 2023, it is stated that it is considered important that the socio-cultural function of the Warenar is preserved for the people of Wassenaar.

Besides the theater function, which is fulfilled by the administrator Stichting Beheer Warenar, there is room in the building to include additional functions. This is one of the reasons for taking a fresh look at the redevelopment of the Warenar. For some time now, there has been a desire in Wassenaar society to establish a village museum. A noticeable need has arisen for a public location where residents can meet. A village museum activity program in the Warenar will be able to help combat loneliness and encourage social connection between fellow villagers. The goal is to investigate the feasibility of incorporating the theater the Warenar, a village hall activity program and a village museum. The feasibility study on the rezoning of the Warenar will take about nine months. After that, the decision-making process can begin. A decision is targeted for the October 2024 City Council.
