Holland Dunes ready for official national park status

This is an old post.

On December 9, 2020, Hollandse Duinen applied for official national park status from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The cooperation of Dunea, Staatsbosbeheer and the province of Zuid-Holland and 53 area partners including the municipality of Wassenaar, can thus count on the energy and support of a broad coalition of organizations. This will make it possible to realize the ambitions of this new-style national park. Ambitions that the partners could not achieve on their own: a sustainable, resilient and accessible national park that strengthens and increases the value of the area for people, plants and animals.

Alderman Kees Wassenaar: "because of the green character of Wassenaar, it is in itself 'natural' that we cooperate with the National Park Hollands Duin. We feel traditionally connected to it."
