We look back on a wonderfully enjoyable and successful opening of the renovated town center. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible: the business owners, our special guests Princess Margarita De Bourbon De Parme and Kees Kroon, the organizers, the performers, Centrum Management Wassenaar, the residents, and of course all the visitors who came together to make it an unforgettable day! Together, we celebrated the result of the Village Center Revitalization project, which has been realized since 2016 through close collaboration with many parties. A center that exudes quality, character, and cohesion, with more greenery, a logical layout, and an inviting atmosphere that combats vacancy and strengthens the business climate. Background
A well-functioning and attractive center is a crucial link for Wassenaar society. Partly as a result of changing consumer behavior due to internet purchases, retail is under pressure. The Strengthening Village Center project includes a redevelopment plan that will revitalize our village center. The revitalization will create a logical and recognizable public space with quality and a unified appearance, inviting visitors to stay longer in the center. This will not only have a positive effect on the visitor's spending pattern, but also create new private investment and attract entrepreneurs and investors. This gives a boost to the business climate and prevents vacancy.
Since 2016, the municipality has been working together with center management, entrepreneurs and property owners to strengthen the center. The intensive process of co-creation with residents, (catering) entrepreneurs, shopkeepers and property owners has led to a widely supported redevelopment plan.
