Requesting youth assistance
The municipality provides youth assistance to children and parents or educators who need it. For example, if there are problems growing up or parenting. Youth aid is for children up to the age of 17.

Do you need help now? Then call the Youth Crisis Service at 070 - 345 05 06. You can do this day and night.
How do you apply for youth assistance from the municipality?
Do you have a child for whom you need support, help or Health ? Report this to the Wassenaar Social Team:
You give the municipality all the information needed to determine what help your child needs.
- Does the Social Team think basic help can help? Then a staff member will look with you at what basic help is appropriate for your situation and help you arrange that help.
- Does the Social Team think your child and you need specialized help? Then you will have an interview with an expert from the municipality (a youth consultant). A few days after the interview you will receive a report from the municipality. This report states whether you can get specialist help and, if so, what kind of specialist help.
Are you receiving specialized help? Then in some situations you can get an amount to buy Health and support for your child yourself. The municipality determines whether you can get a personal budget (pgb).
You don't get a pgb overnight.

How soon will you receive youth assistance through the municipality?
How quickly you can get youth assistance depends on what kind of assistance it is:
- Basic help: This help can often begin quickly.
- Specialist help: You will hear within 8 weeks of your application whether you will receive the help.
Note: sometimes youth assistance through your health insurance company
Sometimes you don't have to arrange youth care through the municipality, but through your health insurance company. This is so in these situations:
Personal care from a doctor or nurse
Your child needs personal care from a doctor, nurse or other health care provider ( Health). Or it is very likely that your child will need this. If so, arrange for youth care through your health insurance company.
A pediatric nurse can help you sort out what your child needs.Consider:
- Medical Health
- learning to cope with an illness or disability
- Preventing a disease or disability from getting worse
- preventing your child from developing a disease or disability for which your child is at high risk
Long-time Health needed in a special living place
Will your child need a lot of Health for the rest of life? And can't your child get that Health at home? Then your child can live in a place where Health is available day and night. You arrange this through your health insurance company.
