Can an advisory speed be set on my street?
Advisory speeds are applied exceptionally at specific danger points on roads with speeds of 50 km/h or higher. Advisory speeds are also possible on 50 km/h roads near schools. Advisory speeds cannot be set for any other reason. The following criteria are used in determining whether a hazard point exists:
- How many accidents occurred; what kind, and what was the cause?
- What is the violation rate: how many people are speeding?
- Does the speed match the road?
- Can the layout of the road be changed to reduce speeding?
